“It’s gonna be dimensioned, it’s fitting in the floor plan because we’ve all used the same program that the architects have used, and these are technical. The tile drawings are all drawn in CAD. Every single thing is specified, we've got finish schedules, so you’re gonna wanna see examples of what that looks like and know that the work your designer is doing is something they can hand off to their subs that they can go off and use these drawings to work with.” 13:55

This was very informative. Thank you. I have a brick home that I do want to lime wash. Not sure if that's the same as a German schmeer, but lime washing for certain color brickwork is stunning. Same for brick pathways. I come from a masonry city for hundreds of years. We see a lot of different colored brick. I think seeing different colors of brick would have be helpful, but likely not so common in the West, more so in the Midwest.

Great tips, y’all! We bought a 3-sided brick home a few years ago and my husband wanted to immediately paint it white. I told him, “heck no!” We have a beautiful brick color that’s timeless. Also, the great part about brick is that it is low maintenance! If we painted it, we would have to repaint it every 10 years or so. No bueno! Anyways, we made the best decision [for us] and he is now happy we didn’t touch it. 😊

This was so helpful even just to hear you using some of the language associated with exteriors! We recently bought a great home on a hillside in Virginia with gorgeous valley views. Unfortunately, the exterior is brown everything - siding, brick, shingles, trim, deck. We know we’ll do an exterior update eventually but I’ve been scratching my head over where to even start. It’s an 80’s contemporary style with some asymmetry, which is not my favourite, but I want to be true to what the house is while still updating it to be brighter, more welcoming, and reflective of us. This conversation got some wheels turning!

(Also totally open to any feedback you have about updating an 80’s contemporary home 😂 I find it funny that it has almost always been home styles I would never imagine myself living in that end up calling out to us)

Hm. The color story is off. If the colors were simplified, matching, the differing textures would be more harmonious. Even if minimalist isn't your style, you can still do maximalist as long as the colors are all complementary (ex. same saturation, similar values). Right now the values are different for almost every item, so some things are dull and cool toned, some or heavy black, some are neutral yellow, the chair is blue with warm brown legs.... some painting of existing furniture would help harmonize everything.

I don’t understand why anyone would want a ‘vacation’ (by your definition) on another continent. If you wanna relax and explore there are a million cool ways to do that without sitting on a plane for 10+ hours. If you wanna do anything to make that kind of flight worth it, you gotta do a ‘trip’ (by your definition).

You can still sightsee but 30 miles a day is wild. She wants to become more immersed in the culture of Italy, rather than just seeing all the touristy places. It's just preference but both options have merits. It Just depends on the individual.

Hi! Love your podcasts so much. I’m a fashion designer and I really related to your viewer’s comment about keeping your content more focused on your designs rather than the business details. Just a little note- I’ve noticed Suzanne’s voice fades in and out (a lot) at her mic for the last couple videos. Maybe it’s just not close enough to her? Love to hear her talk about the details. You guys are so gracious, it’s really refreshing to see and hear you guys interact! I would love to have a tour of your office, that might be interesting!!
